From the summit is just a great view of Vilcanota Mountain range. Apu Ausangate, the highest mountain, is the most important in Cusco region and it has many legends.
Ausangate is considered the pakarina (place of origin) of llamas and alpacas and controls the health and fertility of these animals.
a clear day in Cusco reveals the shining white massif of Mountain Ausangate to the southeast of the city, the peak stands like a sentinel over the Cusco valley, its 6,372 n.a.s.l./ 20,900 ft. height surpassing that of all other peaks in the region. Surrounding Ausangate mountain are the jagged peaks of the cordillera vilcanota, a range of mountains clustered together to form rugged hiking territory and vistas of startling beauty.

We depart from Cusco city during the morning, we drive by private bus or van along the Puno road until to Urcos then we drive along the road to Puerto Maldonado we reach small villages of shepherds and weavers in the highland. In the afternoon, the Vilcanota range, looms in the distance with Ausangate mountain, Jampa, Qolque Cruz dominating the landscape until we reach Ocongate District very soon after the Tinky village with 3,800m.a.s.l./12,500 ft. our trail head here we will meet the high mountain staff, arrieros or horse drivers, all our mountain equipment will be carried by horses, we start the trek with a gradual up hill along the pinchimuro community a good introduction about the native people in the area with his traditional customs colorful ones by the afternoon is our first stop camp site at Pacchanta community 4,340m.a.s.l./14,240 ft. the camp site is located a few meters of the hot springs rustic pools good option to jump to hot water.
Alter a good breakfast, we start our trek along to the rocky valley with a lot of alpacas and llamas in the area, several local people offering you on sale their textiles like ponchos, blankets, hats, scarf etc. this one is along to the all trek route, by the way is coming the first pass or abra of Campa with 5,000 m.a.s.l /16,670 ft., then we continue down hill to TICCLAQOCHA lake 4,860 m.a.s.l./15,950 ft. this is our lunch place. After that and good siesta gradual up hill right to ACERO camp site 4,800 m.a.s.l/15,800 ft.
Early during the morning, after breakfast we start first one gradual up hill to the huayruropunko mountain base 5,132 m.a.s.l /16,834 ft. then scramble the mountain to get the summit 5,543 m.a.s.l/18,182 ft. The mountain summit offers you a spectacular scenery and views almost the 90% of Cordillera Vilcanota Such as the Climbing Mountains of Continental Glacier 5,543m.a.s.l./18,180ft. Paco Mountain 5,400m.a.s.l./17,700ft. Montura Mountain 6,050m.a.s.l./19,800ft. Hatunñaño punta Mountain 5,800m.a.s.l./19,020ft. Chumpi Mountain 6,100m.a.s.l./20,000ft. Three peaks mountains 6,100m.a.s.l./20,050ft. Qolque Cruz Mountain 5,950m.a.s.l./19,520ft. Santa Catalina Mountain 5,820m.a.s.l./19,090ft. and the main Apu Ausangate. After the summit lunch at the mountain base then continue along the campa valley long trek down hill right to chillca village where our bus or van waiting for us to transfer to Cusco city.
