The one day hike from km. 104 or well know as chachabamba right to Machu Picchu is an excellent alternative instead to the full Inca Trail trek for those who don’t have enough time to make the 4 day trek or those who don’t like to camp, this is a beautiful moderate hike with a nice view of Vilcanota river and Urubamba valley with a spectacular setting of lush jungle vegetation and rugged mountainous landscapes. Chachabamba the starting point at the Vilcanota river footbridge we are hiking more or less 6 miles around 10 km. approximately between 6 or 7 hour with several stops for photography and lunch. Overnight at comfortable at Machupicchu town.

We climb gradually up from the Chachabamba footbridge, traversing a grassy hillside with a spectacular views, we enjoy a amazing waterfall before to get Wiñay Huayna Inca site, optional refreshing natural shower, this archeological complex is over (2,700m.a.s.l./ 8,850 ft. composed by several growing terraces, urban sector and religious sector, after Wiñay Wayna we catch the regular Inca trail part of the main trail right to Inti Punku or Gate of the Sun almost at the same level of Wiñay Wayna the highest elevation in our hike and the first view of Machu Picchu, Overnight at comfortable lodge in Machupicchu town.
Early morning pick you up from your hotel, aboard the early bus ride to Machu Picchu then immediately a complete guided tour, then optional climbing to Huayna Picchu mountain. Late afternoon bus to aguas calientes and train back to Cusco.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: According to the new Inca Trail regulations, The Machu Picchu Sanctuary authorities allow only 500 people to enter to Inca Trail every day including Cooks, porters, Guides. Each one who enter that day needs to be listed on a permit form, provided by the park authorities in advance.
